Chiefs LB Nick Bolton could return in Week 14 | KCSN Daily 12.6

The Kansas City Chiefs could be getting some much-needed help just at the right time.
Chiefs backup LB Drue Tranquill was knocked out in the opening minutes of the Week 13 games against the Green Bay Packers. He remains in the concussion protocol as of Wednesday. Chiefs starting RB Isiah Pacheco also suffered a shoulder injury and sat out the first practice session of the week. Essentially, two players at positions where the team doesn’t have a great amount of depth aren’t participating in practice to start the week.
Typically, this would be a red-alert situation for Kansas City on both fronts. However, the Chiefs could have two players back on Sunday against the Bills, who could ultimately help offset any injuries at the two positions.
Asked about the status of RB Jerick McKinnon (groin) and LB Nick Bolton (wrist), Chiefs HC Andy Reid gave an optimistic outlook for their immediate future.
“They’re close,” Reid said. “They’ll practice today.”
Specifically regarding Bolton, the Chiefs DT Chris Jones made it sound as if he’ll be activated to the 53-man roster and make his return from injured reserve this week.
"I'm excited to have my linebacker back," Jones said. "That's my linebacker, man. I'm so excited to have him back. I know he makes a huge difference for this defense. His leadership, his playcalling, his adjustments to the game. He does a tremendous job for us as a leader."
Only time will tell, but there’s little doubt that it’d be perfect timing to get Bolton back in the fold against the Bills.
Chiefs offense NEED THIS in their wide receiver room SOON!
Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes on being nominated for Walter Payton Man of the Year:
Mahomes has been nominated for the league’s most prestigious annual award. It’s the second consecutive year that he’s been nominated. During his media availability on Wednesday, he broke down what the nomination means to him.
“It’s amazing,” Mahomes said. “The group, the fraternity of guys that have come before me that have won the award. Not only that, but this team and how much it means to give back to the community and be a part of the community that has given so much to us. It truly is an honor. It’s got to be hard to pick when you look at guys like Travis Kelce, Justin Reid, Trey Smith, there’s so many guys that do so much for the community. I’m just glad that I was able to be honored to be in that group that gets to go and be at the Super Bowl and listen to all the stories of all these guys giving back to these great communities, it truly is an honor.”
