With the 2022 NFL regular season coming to a close, opponents for the 2023 NFL regular season have now been finalized.
The Chiefs will face each of their division opponents twice, once at home and once on the road. They play against all four teams from a division in the NFC conference and all four from another division in the AFC conference, with each conference being determined on yearly cycles. They’ll also face the remaining AFC conference division winners and a 17th opponent that also rotates based on the year.
This time around K.C. pulled the NFC North, the AFC East and their 17th game will be played against the NFC East’s division winner.
Home: Broncos, Raiders, Chargers, Bills, Bengals, Dolphins, Bears, Lions, Eagles
Away: Broncos, Raiders, Chargers, Jaguars, Patriots, Jets, Packers, Vikings
The NFL’s schedule reveal will happen in April. It’s probable that one of these games could be on the international slate (Germany) this year.

Chiefs can now sign free agents on reserve/future contracts:
Beginning on Monday, Jan. 9, the NFL clubs are permitted to sign current free agents on reserve/future contracts for the 2023 NFL season. These players will not count toward the active roster while teams play during the postseason. They’ll first count toward the 90-man offseason roster when the new league year begins in March.
The Chiefs hosted several players on tryouts on Monday, including but not limited to WR John Ross III, QB Nathan Rourke, WR Ty Fryfogle and WR Slade Bolden. Some of those players are reported to have signed with the team, but the transactions won’t be made official until tomorrow at the earliest.

Quotable:
“Yeah, I thought he might be able to go this past week, that’s a hiccup on my end. I mean, he’s trying. He’s trying to get this thing right, and it’s just a matter of time so really day-to-day. Although, he feels better today then he did on Saturday, so we’ll just see how it goes during practice.” - Andy Reid on Mecole Hardman
“Nothing was going to be fair for anybody, I don’t think. It’s a situation that we never have encountered before, but at the end of the day, man, I was so happy that (Bills S) Damar (Hamlin) was doing better and that’s the most important stuff. And so him doing better and him being in a better spot (health wise) we were ready to do whatever scenario was going to happen. So, if that was neutral site, if that was going there (to Buffalo), whatever it was, we were just ready to go out there and play but we have to win that first game first so let’s worry about whoever we (will) play in that first round, or that first round for us.” - Patrick Mahomes on whether the AFC seeding situation was fair
Quick hits:
