After a three-day precursor to training camp for rookies, quarterbacks and injured players, the Chiefs’ veteran players have officially reported to training camp. The entire team had an off day of practice on Tuesday, July 26. This allowed veteran players to get settled at training camp, take the team’s conditioning test and participate in team meetings before the first full training camp practice on Wednesday, July 27. That practice will not be open to the public and is exclusively available to season ticket holders. The first open practice will be held on Thursday, July 28.
The first several practices held by the team will be just like mandatory minicamp, with no pads and no contact. The coaches will ramp things up before they begin integrating pads, contact, and “real football” into the daily practice routine for the players.

Quotable:
“Missouri Western and St. Joe have been great to us. They’ve made sure that they understand that every rep matters. That’s an easy way of saying, ‘Everything has to be right; we can’t afford to miss.’ That’s really important. We love our partnership; we love our relationships, and we fully intend to continue to have those relationships. We have some options in our contract to continue. So, as we always do, we’ll get through this year, we’ll sit down, we’ll have some conversations. Our early discussions with new Athletic Director Andy Carter has been very positive. It will be great to see – after he gets through his first full camp – his feedback and things he thinks we can do better or differently. But it’s been a great opportunity, it’s been great to be here. Our head coach loves getting away, our players like it. . .” Chiefs president Mark Donovan on training camp at MWSU in St. Joe

“Of course. I’ve been told he prides himself on having one of the toughest camps because when we get in season we’ve already been through the grinder, been through the ringer, and when we’re out there we feel 100% confident that we’re going to be more physically tough than other teams and be more physically in shape than other teams. So, when the season comes around, I feel we’re going to be very confident in what we’re going to do for the game.” - Chiefs rookie OL Darian Kinnard on what to expect from Andy Reid’s training camp
