Chiefs WR Mecole Hardman has a setback:
Mecole Hardman, who is in the midst of his 21-day practice window after being designated to return from injured reserve, suffered a minor setback in his return from injury. Speaking to reporters on Friday, Chiefs HC Andy Reid confirmed that Hardman would not be making his return against the Broncos in Week 17.
“Alright, no injuries – well, Mecole (Hardman) will not play, he’ll be out,” Reid said. “He had a setback on Wednesday and just isn’t ready yet. So, we’ll keep bringing him along, and see how he does.”
Hardman didn’t practice for the past two days due to what Reid described as a “tweak.”
“He just had some pain – some pain and it was like a tweak up in the groin area, so we just backed him off,” Reid explained. “I don’t want to take steps back. I don’t want to do that.”
Whether Hardman returns next week, prior to Wednesday’s deadline for his return, remains to be seen. Reid didn’t seem to be too concerned about the potentiality of Hardman not being activated to the 53-man roster and remaining on injured reserve.
“I’m not worried about it,” Reid said. “I think as long as he’s progressing and trying to work to get better here, we’ll be ok. If he can’t, then he can’t. Then we go move on and keep going with the guys we got.”

Quotable:
“I like the way the rotation is going because right now, both of those guys have proven us right as far as when we drafted them, we thought that both guys could become players for us. So again, we you look at Watson, Watson is a 6’2” kid who has long arms, his skillset is a little bit different than Williams who’s another 6’3” kid and has long arms. So both of them bring a little something different to the table, so depending on the team that we’re playing, we may play one a little more than the other. But, we’ve rotated both of them in there, they’re both deserving and we’re going to continue to do it.” - Dave Merritt on Joshua Williams and Jaylen Watson
“Yeah, I just feel welcomed here. I think the fanbase is unbelievable. Everyone here in the office as far as the staff, the people, you guys (media). You guys have been unbelievable to me and just been super nice. For myself it’s just more so – I want to be in a place where I can play ball, show my personality and just win man, so yeah.” - JuJu Smith-Schuster on what makes Kansas City feel like home
