What to look for in Week 2:
How does the secondary hold up without Trent McDuffie? The first-round draft pick, McDuffie, was a Day 1 starter for Kansas City. Unfortunately, he landed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury suffered in Week 1. How will the Chiefs hold up without McDuffie, who wasn’t targeted once during his 21 coverage snaps?
The team invested heavily in the cornerback position during the 2022 NFL draft, solidifying the depth of the unit with young talent. Seventh-round CB Jaylen Watson stepped in for McDuffie in Week 1 and didn’t miss a beat. His first target was a pass defended against A.J. Green, but his second target he surrendered a touchdown to Marquise Brown. There’s room for improvement, but it was hardly a bad performance for the rookie.
The Chargers will likely test Watson in this matchup. Should fourth-round draft pick Joshua Williams find his way onto the field it’ll likely be the same scenario. The receiver trio of Mike Williams, Joshua Palmer and DeAndre Carter will be a big test for the young cornerbacks in the bright lights of prime time.
Slowing down the Chargers’ pass rush: There are two Chargers players who can wreck the game for Kansas City on Thursday — Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa. Andy Reid and Eric Bieniemy will be tasked with creating a game plan to slow these two down after they combined for five sacks on Las Vegas Raiders QB Derek Carr in Week 1.
So what exactly will that plan look like? Well, you can expect some of Reid’s patented screen passes. They’ll also look to get the ball out of Mahomes’ hands quickly when he drops back. Brett Kollmann recently spoke to KCSN’s BJ Kissel about what he thinks the Chiefs will do to limit those pass rushers and he says it might be a tad boring, at least before halftime adjustments are made.

Chiefs vs. Chargers GAME DAY Q&A:
BJ Kissel and Tucker Franklin go live prior to the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers game to answer your questions for today's KCSN Update.
Players to watch:
RB Isiah Pacheco:
Pacheco finished the team’s Week 1 game as the leading rusher with 12 carries for 62 yards and a score. The majority of that work came in garbage time, but he also had two carries of over 10 yards and one carry of over 20 yards. Will the explosion he showcased in Week 1 earn him more opportunities in the early game plan?
DT Chris Jones:
Last week, Jones looked practically unblockable going against the Cardinals’ offensive line. I anticipate that this will be a game where he leaves an even greater mark in the box score. Jone missed the team’s Week 15 matchup against Los Angeles last season due to COVID-19. He’ll also be matched up with Chargers rookie RG Zion Johnson quite a bit during Week 2.
