KCSN Update:
KCSN’s BJ Kissel catches up with Trevor Sikkema of Pro Football Focus to talk about his three key matchups for the Kansas City Chiefs in their game this Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
Players to watch in Week 9:
LB Nick Bolton: Last time the Chiefs played the Titans, Bolton was the lone bright spot for Kansas City. He became the first player for the franchise to ever record 15 combined tackles and four tackles for loss in a single game. Tennessee’s rushing attack allows him to play downhill, which is what he most excels at.
OL Trey Smith: Titans DT Jeffery Simmons called out Smith and Joe Thuney on a recent appearance on SiriusXM NFL radio. He said that after watching the tape, he felt “very confident” in Tennessee’s ability to “dominate” Kansas City’s offensive line. Bucs LB Shaq Barrett made similar comments ahead of Week 4 and that game didn’t end very well for his team. Expect that Smith will be lined up against Simmons often and take exception to his comments.
CB Trent McDuffie: We haven’t seen McDuffie play since the first half of the Week 1 game against the Cardinals. He looked like a shutdown cornerback in that game before he got hurt, but how will he look in his return from injury? The Titans hardly have a dynamic group of wide receivers, so this should be a nice week for the team to ease him back into action following the hamstring injury.
WR Kadarius Toney: Andy Reid confirmed on Friday that Toney is expected to make his debut against the Titans in Week 9. What exactly will that look like, though? Reid said the team has some things they’ve installed for Toney, whether that’s on offense or special teams. My best guess is that his first play will be a wide receiver screen where they get him the ball in space, so he can put his elusiveness on display.

Quotable:
“We’re definitely thinking about that (game) for sure. It drives the mindset for this game. A very tough, physical team that can create havoc if you give them the opportunity. We have to take care of the ball, that’s the biggest thing and then just match that energy up front, knowing their D-Line.” - Chiefs TE Travis Kelce on the 2021 loss to the Titans motivating the team this week
“Yeah, you know what, he’s done a good job. I appreciate his effort. He’s a fast learner. We’ll see. We’ve got a couple of things in for him. Let’s just see what happens.” - Andy Reid of Kadarius Toney’s practice week and chances to play in Week 9
