The Chiefs have already played four games in prime time this season and began the season with five total on the schedule. That wasn’t enough for Kansas City as they’re officially getting another game in prime time. The NFL announced Tuesday that they’re moving the team’s Week 11 game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Nov. 20 from its originally-scheduled afternoon slot to “Sunday Night Football” on NBC at 8:20 p.m. ET. It will replace the previously scheduled matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers, which will be played in the afternoon slot vacated by the Chiefs.
Assuming that the Week 14 game against the Denver Broncos isn’t flexed out of Sunday night, four of the Chiefs’ six games against AFC West opponents in 2022 will occur in prime time. All games in Week 11 through Week 18 are eligible for the NFL’s flexible scheduling procedures, but Week 11 against the Chargers is likely to be the only game flexed for Kansas City this season.

Patrick Mahomes back atop NFL MVP race:
After a monster performance in Week 9 where he accounted for over 500 yards of offense through the air and on the ground, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes finds himself back atop the MVP race for the 2022 NFL season. Ahead of Week 9, DraftKings Sportsbook had Mahomes listed behind Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen and Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts with +350 odds to win the MVP award. After defeating the Titans in overtime, Mahomes has +200 odds ahead of both Allen and Hurts to win his second career MVP award. Mahomes won his first NFL MVP back in 2018, which was his first season as a starter. Through nine weeks, Mahomes leads the NFL in passing yards and passing touchdowns. He’s currently pacing for a career-high and NFL record in single-season passing yards.

Quotable:
“I think it’s hard to predict that somebody is going to have an impact on the team like (Travis) Kelce has (had) over his career. With each passing year he seems to lay more and more bricks into what’s becoming very much of a stellar career here in Kansas City and in the National Football League. One thing I do remember is how excited (Head Coach) Andy (Reid) was when we drafted him because Andy had the experience with his brother (Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce). He knew Travis as a high school student and he really felt that he had the chance to turn into a special player and of course, that’s all played out. I think I would give the credit to Andy on helping identify him and then to the coaching staff in doing a great job in developing him over the years. And of course, you can’t talk about Travis without talking about his relationship with Patrick (Mahomes) – both on and off the field. The two of them are great friends and obviously have a special connection on the field that helps Travis be successful on a weekly basis.” - CEO and Chairman Clark Hunt on Chiefs TE Travis Kelce’s career so far
“Well first of all, those two defensive tackles, that might have been part of it. Those two guys are pretty strong jokers. We’ve been playing like the number one defenses here for the last few weeks it seems like, and so you know they’re giving us their best shot. We can do a little bit better up front. We can be a little bit more patient at the running back position and as coaches we can always dial up different things you know and try to figure something out that might fit a little bit better so those are all the things, Aaron (Ladd), that we kind of get in and we analyze and work with but you know what didn’t work there worked in the pass game.” - Chiefs HC Andy Reid on the lack of a running game in Week 9
Quick Hits:
From the AFC West: The Raiders were not particularly good at drafting during Mike Mayock’s tenure as GM. They’ve released another former first-round draft pick with safety Jonathan Abram heading to waivers on Tuesday.
From QB1: Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes shared a sizzle reel of the Week 9 win over the Tennessee Titans.
From No. 38: A PSA from Chiefs CB L’Jarius Sneed — He is not 49ers WR Willie Snead. Don’t make that mistake if you spot him in public.
Important dates ahead:
Sunday, Nov. 13 at Noon CT - Week 10: Chiefs vs. Jaguars - GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium - Kansas City, Missouri
