Chiefs WR Mecole Hardman activated from IR | KCSN Daily 1.4
Plus latest injury report, KCSN podcasts, transactions, quotes and more Chiefs news
Welcome back to the newest issue of KCSN Daily, where we deliver the best Kansas City Chiefs content to your inbox.
After missing the past eight weeks of the 2022 NFL season with an abdominal injury, Chiefs fourth-year WR Mecole Hardman is officially back. Shortly before the deadline to activate Hardman to the 53-man roster from injured reserve, GM Brett Veach officially made the call to bring Hardman back.
In a corresponding move, the team waived OT Geron Christian, who has been a healthy scratch for the past six weeks. When OT Lucas Niang returned from the Reserve/PUP list, it put Christian’s roster spot in jeopardy.
Hardman returns to the roster with 25 receptions for 297 yards and four receiving touchdowns this season. He also has four carries for 31 yards and two rushing scores. He ranks fifth on the team in receiving yardage and only Jerick McKinnon and Travis Kelce have more touchdowns on the season.
It’s not yet clear if Hardman will see any playing time in Week 18 against the Las Vegas Raiders as he has yet to practice in full, but his return suggests that at a minimum he could see some action in the playoffs.

Quotable:
“Alright, I’ll just start with (Bills S) Damar (Hamlin) – that’s quite an event that took place there. There are a lot of things that you take out of that from a humanity standpoint – we’re all pulling for Damar as he goes forward here. We actually had a team prayer for him yesterday with our team chaplain, so you have to (be) thinking that any bit of extra that we can get to support him we’re trying to do (that) from afar. But our prayers are also with his family as they go forward. - Andy Reid on Bills S Damar Hamlin
“I think it affects everyone in this league in a way where it really puts things in perspective. We go out there every week and I’m not going to say we take it for granted, but you go out there and you play a game that you love, and you just enjoy it. You don’t think about things like that happening and whenever things like this happen, I think it impacts everybody. I mean obviously my prayers are with Damar (Hamlin) and his family, the Buffalo Bills, the Bengals (and) everybody that was in attendance at the game. It sent chills down my body when I was watching it and all I did was just sit there and pray for him because that’s all you can do when you feel like you can’t help. Like I said, I’ve been watching updates just like everybody and try to make sure that first off Damar is healthy, and he can get back because at the end of the day, we’re people, not just players, and I think everybody understands that even more now.” - Patrick Mahomes on Bills S Damar Hamlin
