The Chiefs completed their third and final week of OTAs on Friday, laying the groundwork for the 2023 NFL offseason. Andy Reid confirmed that the team worked on AFC West opponents this week, culminating with a Week 1 opponent scout on the final practice of the week.
“It’s good to get these guys out here working,” Reid said. “They’re working their tail off. This week has been all against opponents, so the AFC West and then our first opponent, the Lions. So, we’ve got some work. We’ve got the Lions tomorrow. We’ve had the AFC West the last three days. So, the guys are working hard, they’re challenging each other within the rules that you’re confined to. But it’s a good foundation for them as we work into the veteran mini-camp and then into training camp, most of all. They’ll at least have a foundation there going up to St. Joseph.”
The team will host their three-day mandatory minicamp next Tuesday, June 13 through Thursday, June 15. It’s the first time that all players will be required to attend practices this offseason. Those who do not attend will be subject to fines from the team unless they’ve been excused from practice.

Quotable:
“Well the best story I’ve got for you, one of the art curators was talking about this portrait that was hanging up and said that maybe 60-70 years ago, this American family took a trip to India and they saw this portrait – it’s covered in dirt, muddy, whatever. They end up going to this store and the people who were selling it sold it for seven dollars but wanted to keep the frame. So, they kept the frame, they get the portrait, bring it back to America. Turns out it was an original painting of Philadelphia from Colonial times. Portrait is worth $300 million. They bought it for seven dollars. It was freaking nuts. There were a couple stories like that. We got to tour the main level. And most of the time when you get public tours, they have it roped off. We got to actually go and be in it, sit on the furniture. Me and a couple guys got to go talk to some of the White House staff about our experiences and championship habits and handling pressure and give our insights to it. It was really unique.” - Justin Reid on Chiefs’ White House trip
