Four Young Receivers Flashed in Preseason Week One
A look at four young prospects fighting for opportunity in the wide receiver room
There are certainly viable concerns to be discussed about the strength of the wide receiver room. A true number one receiver has yet to reveal himself, and the one believed to best suited to take on that role — Kadarius Toney — got hurt before the first practice at training camp officially began.
The depth of the wide receiver room, however? That debate is diminishingly quickly with the revelations of young players competing to make the Chiefs’ 53 man roster.
Camp reports have largely been positive for several receivers in St. Joseph. Pass catchers have been making a name for themselves through training camp. Their first opportunity to showcase their talents against outside competition came on Sunday in New Orleans. Several rose to the occasion.
The Chiefs have nine wide receivers that either flashed in the first preseason game, are locks to make the 53 man roster, both. There were some exciting plays from several young first and second year players who were helping to validate positive practice reports with their in-game performance.
Here’s a look at four young, unproven receivers who stood out.
