The Kansas City Chiefs took the field in front of season ticket holders for their first full training camp practice on Wednesday. Conditions were near perfect to kick off camp with some cloud cover and 70-degree weather. Practice lasted roughly 1.25 hours with the majority of the work coming in the form of individual drills. There weren’t a lot of 7-on-7 or 11-on-11 team drills on the first day of practice as the team ramps things up and works its way to more vigorous padded practices.
Among standouts from practice on Wednesday were WR JuJu Smith-Schuster, CB Joshua Williams, S Justin Reid and RB Jerick McKinnon.

Social media roundup:
Listen to former Chiefs OL Jeff Allen and DT Mike DeVito share their unique insights into the team below:
Quotable:
“To be honest, the story that I’m trying to write is, I would say I was hurt last year. Didn’t play a lot of ball. And coming to this team, I’m just going to let my play write the story. Me making plays on the field, do what I’m told. I came here to win. And this is a team that wins, so this shall prove.” - Chiefs WR JuJu Smith-Schuster on the story he wants to write for himself at training camp
“There’s something to be said about a fresh start. This is a new-look defense, you could say. We have a lot of new faces and a lot of guys who are gritty and have been hungry for the opportunity to prove their worth and show who they are as players. We want to be an attitude defense. We want to come out and set the tempo, we want to be physical, we want to be dominant. When it comes to the end of the game and we have a lead, we want to be the ones to finish it and not have to rely on the offense to go out and do anything. That’s the attitude that we’re building and that’s the attitude that we’re going to continue with the whole season.” - Chiefs S Justin Reid on creating a defensive identity
