The weather wasn’t favorable at the top of Day 2 of training camp practices, which was the first practice open to the public. Thankfully, things cleared up with just some light rain, which means the team stayed outdoors. Remember, if there is lightning in the area, the team will practice indoors and practice will no longer be open to the public. It’s important to Chiefs HC Andy Reid to get a few practices in the elements during training camp because it prepares players for the type of weather they might face on gameday during the season.
Thursday’s standouts at practice included WR JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR Skyy Moore, WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling, TE Noah Gray, LB Elijah Lee and S Juan Thornhill.

Quotable:
“I mean, Carlos Dunlap, his resume speaks for itself. I think he had 7-8 sacks last year for Seattle. You know, he’s a high-character guy. I trained with him this offseason in Miami. If we’re able to add him and the report is true, we’ll accept Carlos with open arms. He’s a veteran guy who has had a lot of experience in this league. To have a veteran guy like that in this position group, I think it would be remarkable.” - Chris Jones on new Chiefs DE Carlos Dunlap, transcription via Chiefs Wire

“We’re very fortunate to have Nick (Bolton) here in my opinion. Nick is a natural thinker. He’s a natural football player too, but I’m glad to have Nick because I think he does a really good job at it. Just like with Tyrann (Mathieu), the safeties being at Tyrann’s level after being in it for three years. I’m not sure that Nick will be at Hitch's (Anthony Hitchens) level after Hitch had it for three years. But I am encouraged by what he’s doing right now.” - Chiefs DC Steve Spagnuolo on Nick Bolton taking over the MLB spot
