The Chiefs’ Week 4 opponent is dealing with some weather-related adversity this week. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers left their team facilities on Tuesday due to Hurricane Ian. With the storm on a direct path toward Tampa, they’ll be practicing in Miami, Florida, where the hurricane won’t threaten.
This is still a significant disruption to the game week and one that is new for Bucs veteran QB Tom Brady. He spoke about the situation with Jim Gray on the Let’s go! podcast.
"Yeah, the plan is just trying to adjust to things on the fly,” Brady said. “Preparations for an NFL game are pretty intense, so I’ve never had anything like this. . . Our team will have to adjust, go to Miami and practice there for the week. And hopefully, we can come back and play against the Chiefs Sunday night. A lot of things can happen in a short period of time.”
Despite the change in routine, Brady is insistent there will be no excuses for the Buccaneers in this game.
“I think when you are dealing with some of the things that we're gonna have to deal with this week, there's built-in excuses that should never be excuses for anything,” Brady said. “We’ve got to approach the week with the championship attitude that no matter what we face and no matter who plays, we're gonna have to go out there and find a way to win the game. So it's not gonna be easy. It's a huge test. We're playing at home. It's a night game and it's gonna be a challenge. And that's what we should want and that's what we should expect from one of the best teams in the league that we're going to face.”
There remains a possibility that the NFL will move the game to an alternate location due to the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, but they’re expected to wait as long as possible to make that decision. ESPN’s Jeff Darlington reported on Monday evening that the Minnesota Vikings’ U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis is among the locations being considered.

Quotable:
“It sucks, man, because I blame myself for that. It was third down, we got off the field, defense fought hard; and I kind of put us in a situation to get back on the field. Then we got scored on, and that sums up the game. So, I'll take that one. It was my fault. It was definitely my fault. As a veteran player on this team, I have to be better with those types of things, especially in those situations. But it won’t happen again from me. I take full blame. I apologize to my team for putting us in that type of situation. It was third down, we were off the field, (and) we would have given our offense the ball back.” - Chris Jones on his penalty and getting past the loss
“Just take tonight off, get back in the film room, figure out what we can do better and just attack this next week. It’s all about how you respond when you get punched in the face like this, so I think a lot of us are looking forward to this next week.” - RT Andrew Wylie on the disposition of the team after the loss
