KCSNU Kickoff - College Football's 5 Most Interesting Games of Week 2
A rundown of College Football games to watch today!
Earlier this week at KC Sports Network we launched a second YouTube Channel: KCSNU. This channel is where all of our video content for college related sports will go but it will hose a new weekly Video and Newsletter series KCSNU Kickoff.
There are a lot of football fans that love to watch the game but can get easily overwhelmed looking at the large slate of college games every week. Maybe someone only follows their favorite school but isn’t sure what games to watch around that. That’s where KCSNU comes in.
Every week we will sit down and look at the local colleges matchups for that week, then build out a watching schedule of the most interesting games happening throughout the entire day - 11:00AM to 12:00AM. We’ll look at what makes the game interesting, we’ll break down the matchups, pick the winners, and even include some prospects for Kansas City Chiefs’ fans to keep their eyes on in every game. Check out CFB’s Week 2 episode now:
What to Watch on CFB’s Week 2
Local Games
Missouri vs K State
Time: 12:00PM EST | Location: Manhattan, KS | TV Station: ESPN2
Prospect To Watch: Felix Anudike-Uzomah | KST | DE | #91
Felix Anudike-Usomah was voted the pre-season Big 12 defensive player of the year and for good reason. His prototypical NFL DE build paired with his athleticism make him a dominant college rusher but an even more promising NFL prospect. He’ll be matched up across of Missouri’s OT Javon Foster who is hoping to insert himself into the upper tiers of this year’s OT class.
Kansas vs West Virginia
Time: 6:00PM EST | Location: Morgantown, WVU | TV Station: ESPN+/Big12 Network
Prospect To Watch: Lonnie Phelps | KS | EDGE | #47
Lonnie Phelps is a transfer from Miami-Ohio where he was rushing the passer across from 2021 NFL Draft Pick Dominique Robinson. He may have the same level of elite athleticism Robinson did but he was able to out-produce him last year. He’ll look to use his lateral agility and first step to beat WVU’s four year starting OT Brandon yates.
Saturday Schedule
Alabama vs Texas
Time: 12:00PM EST | Location: Austin, TX | TV Station: FOX
Prospect To Watch: Eli Ricks | AL | CB | #7
Eli Ricks transferred to Alabama after a successful year and half at LSU. Tall, lanky, and explosive begin to define Ricks’ game but it’s body control and knack for making highlight worthy turnovers that have him competing to be CB1 in the draft class.
Tennessee vs Pittsburgh
Time: 3:30PM EST | Location: Pittsburgh, PA | TV Station: ABC
Prospect To Watch: Cedric Tillman | Tenn | WR | #4
Cedric Tillman is a big bodied WR operating in a spread, vertical attacking offense that allows him to really showcase himself for the NFL. He has the ability to beat press, win at the catch-point, and has enough build-up speed to threaten over the top. He’ll face a tough test vs Pittsburgh’s press coverage and deep CB room bolstered by AJ Woods, MJ Devonshire, and Marquis Williams.
Kentucky vs Florida
Time: 7:00PM EST | Location: Gainesville, FL | TV Station: ESPN
Prospect To Watch: Gervon Dexter Jr. | UF | DT |
Gervon Dexter was a 5 star DT recruit that made plays early on as a freshman. His athleticism at his size makes him difficult to handle on passing downs and gives him arguable the second highest upside out of any DT in this draft class.
Wildcard Watches
USC vs Stanford
Time: 6:30PM EST | Location: Stanford, CA | TV Station: ABC
Prospect To Watch: Jordan Addison | USC | WR | #3
Jordan Addison was a hot topic this offseason as he transferred to USC from Pittsburgh. He’s a crisp route runner that showcases elite change of direction ability and is looking to have a big year in Lincoln Riley’s offense. He’ll have a difficult test with Kyu Blu Kelly who could also opt to enter the NFL Draft after a strong year.
Baylor vs BYU
Time: 10:15PM EST | Location: Provo, UT | TV Station: ESPN
Prospect To Watch: Siaki Ika | BU | DT | #62
Siaki Ika is the premier Nose Tackle prospect in this draft class coming in at near 350lbs. His ability to dominate the run game through occupying double teams or penetrating into the backfield with an exceptionally quick first step. Ika has potential as a pass rusher and a matchup with one of the nation’s highest graded OGs - according to PFF - in Clark Barrington could help solidify his first round draft slot.
