Kansas City is well represented among the 317 prospects in attendance at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine and we’re not just talking about the Chiefs. Northwestern DT Adetomiwa Adebawore (North Kansas City High School), Rice DE Ikenna Enechukwu (Ruskin High School), Kansas State DE Felix Anudike-Uzomah (Lee’s Summit) and Michigan WR Ronnie Bell (Park Hill) each call Kansas City home, and they’ve all begun to turn heads with their performances.
Adebawore was perhaps the most impressive athlete at the combine, posting a 125-inch broad jump, a 37.5-inch vertical jump and a 4.49s 40-yard dash time at 6-foot-2 and 280 pounds. Those are all would be considered elite times for a player 20 pounds lighter.
Enechukwu wasn’t too far behind with a 120-inch broad jump, a 31.5-inch vertical jump and a 4.70 40-yard dash with a 1.66s 10-yard split. He proved that he has the athleticism to match the NFL game.
Anudike-Uzomah didn’t test at the combine, but you can rest assured he’ll have a big day at the K-State Pro Day on March 31. He already made an impression on plenty of media members speaking about his pass-rush plan and more at the combine.
Bell will look to prove to NFL teams that he’s fully recovered from his 2021 knee injury. He’ll have an opportunity to test on Saturday.
With the 2023 NFL draft set to take place in Kansas City, these players are yet another reminder that the Paris of the Plains is at the center of the football world.

Marcus Kemp signs with Washington Commanders:
A 2017 undrafted free agent signing out of Hawaii, Kemp follows Eric Bieniemy to the Washington Commanders. He’s spent the majority of his career with the Chiefs appearing in over 50 games since his rookie season. His impact in Kansas City has mostly come on special teams, but his blocking and a reception made in the AFC Championship Game are one of the many reasons the team was able to hoist another Lombardi Trophy this season
Kemp was one of the five players for Kansas City who saw their practice squad contracts expire and sought to remain free agents, instead of signing reserve/future contracts with the team. That’s why he was able to sign ahead of the start of the NFL’s free agency period later this month.
