The bye week doubles as a special occasion for Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes. On Saturday, he will return to Lubbock, Texas to be enshrined in the Texas Tech Athletics Hall of Fame and the Ring of Honor at Jones AT&T Stadium.
During halftime of the Red Raiders' game against Baylor (6:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2), there will be a ceremony enshrining Mahomes as the eighth member of the Texas Tech Ring of Honor. He’ll join former Chiefs LB/C E.J. Holub as the second member of the franchise inducted. Mahomes’ Hall of Fame induction will take place in a private donor event ahead of the game on Saturday.
In three seasons with the Red Raiders, Mahomes completed 859 passes for 11,252 yards, 93 touchdowns and 29 interceptions. He led the FBS in total offense in 2015 and 2016. He still holds the FBS record for total yards in a single game with 819 yards against Oklahoma in 2016.
Mahomes was drafted 10th overall by the Chiefs in the 2017 NFL draft and has since become the face of the NFL, helping to put Texas Tech athletics on the map.
