Rashee Rice Can Raise the Ceiling of the Wide Receiver Room
*Taylor Swift joke*
Well, got that out of the way.
What a wild existence we as Chiefs fans are living right now. Coming off a Super Bowl, still recovering slightly from week one’s loss due to an inconsistent offensive performance, amd trying to judge the growth of the group while star tight end Travis Kelce navigates recovery from a knee, while gracefully navigating a wild existence of his own.
Things started to look more normal offensively in week three against the Bears. That’s the good news. The bad news is that it was the Bears, and it’s hard to let optimism seep in after playing a lifeless team.
Kelce looked a lot healthier this week against Chicago — and the chemistry between he and quarterback Patrick Mahomes was on full display as the Chiefs lit the scoreboard up in the first half.
The positive indicators don’t end with the dynamic duo, however. Receivers are starting to get comfortable within the offense and in their roles. Justin Watson and Marquez Valdes-Scantling are going to find opportunities in the intermediate to deep. Skyy Moore, Kelce, and rookie Rashee Rice are going to find their opportunities in the short to intermediate.
While Rice has had some drops in his three games in the NFL, he also presents the best chance in this receiver group to grow the profile of the room and help round it out to its best form.
