Super Bowl LVII establishes Mahomes-Reid as all-time duo | KCSN Daily 2.13
Plus Super Bowl parade route, KCSN podcasts, quotes and more Chiefs news
Welcome back to a brand new week of KCSN Daily, where we deliver the best Kansas City Chiefs content to your inbox.
Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes would never say it about themselves, but they’re among the best to ever do it as a quarterback and head coach combo.
With the win in Super Bowl LVII, Mahomes became the first player in NFL history to win multiple championships and multiple league MVP awards in his first six seasons in the league. What he’s accomplished in such a short time is nothing short of remarkable.
The victory also establishes Reid as one of the top head coaches in NFL history — giving him multiple championships on his resume to finally match what we’ve witnessed since his arrival in Kansas City.
Speaking about each other after the game, Mahomes and Reid weren’t quite as humble.
“He grew up in a locker room,” Reid said. “He’s seen the greats. He strives to be the greatest. Without saying anything, that’s the way he works. He wants to be the greatest player ever. That’s the way he goes about his business and he does it humbly. There’s no bragging. He could stand up here and give you these stats that are incredible that he’s had, but he’s never going to do that. It’s not him. We appreciate that. When it’s time for the guys around him to raise their game, he helps them with that. The great quarterbacks make everybody better, including the coach.”
And the quarterback’s comments on the coach were just as flattering.
"He's one of the best coaches of all time,” Mahomes said of Reid. “I think everybody knew that, but these last two Super Bowls kind of cemented that. To have someone that is such a great person who gets the best out of the players to become men and players, you wanted to do that and you wanted to win Super Bowls for him.”
For anyone concerned that Reid might ride off into the sunset to have a few Cheeseburgers in paradise, Mahomes set the record straight on their plans moving forward.
”Like I said, man. We're not done,” Mahomes continued. “I'm going to have him around here for a little longer at least."

"There's one thing about getting your first one, and it's a whole other feeling to get two. I wanted this one more than I wanted a game in my life. The guys in this locker room, the teammates that I have felt the same way." - Chiefs TE Travis Kelce on winning his second Super Bowl
“Man, I’m going to remember being doubted. I’m going to remember being doubted every game. I’m going to remember being picked against every game. I remember them saying the funky ass Bengals was going to beat us four times. I remember them saying we couldn't stop Jalen Hurts. I’m going to remember all of that shit. And now, they’re going to remember that I’m a two-time champion.” - Chiefs DT Khalen Saunders on what he’s going to remember from the Super Bowl LVII win
