Terez A. Paylor Scholarship Approaching Important Milestone, Matching Donations Campaign Announced
The world lost a great man last February when Terez Paylor unexpectedly passed away.
It was a loss for everyone who was fortunate enough to know him, and for those who simply appreciated the work ethic, style, humility, and care for his craft that made him a nationally-respected NFL personality in such a short period of time.
Terez was the best of us, and he was much more than the sports media professional that we all came to love. He was a son, a caring family man, and a soon-to-be husband. He was a mentor, a friend, and a supporter to many who crossed paths with him.
Simply put: Terez’s life was impactful, and one way in which that impact has manifested itself today is with the development of the Terez A. Paylor Scholarship at Howard University. It was created in partnership by the Wall Street Journal, Yahoo! Sports and Kansas City Star, while the outreach efforts have been led by Ebony Reed - Terez’s longtime partner.
For anyone who knew Terez at all, this is the perfect way to honor him - by helping open doors for young, aspiring sports journalists of color.
The outpouring of support since the creation of the scholarship four months ago has only further cemented the proof of impact Terez had on others during his time with us, and now we have an opportunity to see that impact manifest itself into a legacy for him, forever.
“Once scholarship donations received at Howard University exceed $100,000, the scholarship will become a permanent endowment,” said Ebony Reed. “The scholarship is well on its way to achieving that status to permanently support Howard students pursuing careers in sports journalism at the historically Black university.”
In support of this goal and Terez’s legacy, Let it Fly Media, with its own personal connections to Terez, have agreed to match up-to $5,000 in donations made to his scholarship over the next two weeks (June 28 - July 12).
If you want to help support Terez’s legacy and this milestone, then join us by visiting https://giving.howard.edu/givenow to donate, but make sure to select “Other” in the designation drop-down box and write-in “Terez Paylor/LIFM” for it to be attributed to Terez’s scholarship, and this matching campaign.
