Three keys to the game for the Chiefs against the Broncos
No one thought heading into the season that this matchup would be one involving two winning teams, but here we are. Here is how KC can move to 3-0 in the West against their revitalized arch-rival.
The Denver Broncos, while playing the 13th easiest schedule in the AFC, have surprised some folks by having a 5-4 record this far into the season. They are void of much talent on offense but have gotten back to their old ways of posing a dominant defense. Nix has fared a little bit better than some of the dumpster fire predictions suggested, too.
For the first time since Peyton Manning’s last season, Denver defeated the Chiefs in 2023 in the game at Denver. It was a somewhat embarrassing loss where Kansas City only mustered nine points. Even the game before that in Kansas City, the Chiefs put up just 19 points en route to the victory. Those are the only two games since the beginning of the Sean Payton-Andy Reid era of this matchup, so it remains to be seen if Payton does have some sort of number on the back-to-back champs.
Divisional games are weird, so if the Chiefs are going to move to 9-0, I expect it to be a hard-fought game before they head into a big matchup against the Buffalo Bills in week 11. With that in mind, Kansas City cannot take Denver lightly and let this become a trap game before heading up to the Northeast to play a game that could have massive stakes in the playoffs running through Arrowhead. With a sound performance, the Chiefs have a chance to send Denver back to .500 for the first time since week four. Let’s dive into the three keys to the game of the NFL’s only undefeated team remaining unbeaten.
