Trent McDuffie designated to return from IR | KCSN Daily 10.12

Welcome back to the latest issue of KCSN Daily, where we deliver the best Kansas City Chiefs content.
The Chiefs got some good injury news ahead of their first practice of the week on Wednesday. Andy Reid confirmed that rookie CB Trent McDuffie would be designated to return from injured reserve.
“Trent (McDuffie)? Yes, he’s back,” Reid told reporters on Wednesday. “He’ll practice, yeah.”
McDuffie was placed on injured reserve after suffering a hamstring injury in Week 1 against Arizona Cardinals. He’s been required to miss the past four weeks, but now that he’s been designated to return, the team will have a 21-day practice window to decide whether they’ll activate him to the 53-man roster.
Will McDuffie return for the team’s Week 6 game against the Buffalo Bills? Reid was hesitant to commit to that. He wouldn’t confirm whether he’d have a full workload in practice right away.
“We’ll see,” Reid said. “He’s been rehabbing and we’ll just see how he does. I mean he’s been going full speed with his rehab. We’ll see how he does working back in.”
McDuffie certainly would be a big boost to this secondary, which has been challenged at times in recent weeks.
It’s also important to remember that Chiefs GM Brett Veach traded ahead of the Bills in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft to select McDuffie at pick No. 21. Buffalo pivoted and Brandon Beane selected Florida CB Kaiir Elam at pick No. 23.

Quotable:
“Yeah, I think he’s done a great job. He’s a good kid. I think he’s playing well. You heard all those stories of when he was coming out about this and that and you’re always pulling for those guys that even do better than what was expected so he’s a good football player, tough kid, good football player. In a good system too. He’s blessed to have good coaches which also helps.” - Andy Reid on Bills QB Josh Allen
“Yeah, Von is a special player. He’s a Hall of Famer – first ballot Hall of Famer. He’s won two Super Bowls because of his leadership and, obviously, his play. And (he’s) someone you need to know where he’s at every single play. He’s a Texas guy. Those Texas guys know how to play football (laughs).” - Patrick Mahomes on Bills LB Von Miller
Quick Hits:
From KCPD: Raiders WR Davante Adams has officially been charged for pushing over a cameraman at the end of the “Monday Night Football” game in Week 5.
From an anonymous NFL source: Don’t expect the NFL to make any changes related to the roughing the passer penalty despite the egregious calls in the Chiefs-Raiders and Buccaneers-Falcons games in Week 5. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that an anonymous league source says the NFL is steadfast in its stance of protecting those considered defenseless players.
From Buffalo: Some high praise for a former Chiefs player coming from Bills LB Von Miller. He had effusive praise for Kansas City’s old right tackle Mitchell Schwartz, who battled with Miller when he played for the Denver Broncos.
