The Kansas City Chiefs took down the Cleveland Browns by a score of 33-32 last Saturday afternoon in the final preseason game of 2023 for both teams.
While the final score won’t matter much in the grand scheme of things - the individual performances by the players will be a part of the decision-making process as teams have to narrow down their rosters to 53 players by Tuesday afternoon at 3pm CST.
But before we look ahead at what the initial 53-man roster might look like - here are Craig Stout’s takeaways from the Chiefs’ defense this preseason.
414 - Yards per game in the preseason by the Chiefs offense
After game one of the 2023 preseason, there was a fair amount of consternation about the Kansas City Chiefs offense. The offense struggled to stay on the same page, the passing concepts were executed poorly, and the team didn’t enter opposition territory until their fourth drive - well into the second-team offense’s reps. After that, the Chiefs became a bit of a steamroller on the offensive side of the ball, averaging 31.3 points per game and 414 yards of offense.
