All of the Chiefs’ quarterbacks, rookies and select injured players have officially reported to Missouri Western State University at St. Joseph, Missouri for training camp. Select veteran players spoke to the media via Zoom on Monday, July 25 and their arrival at training camp is expected shortly after.
One key veteran player will not be in attendance when veterans arrive. NFL Network reports that franchise-tagged LT Orlando Brown Jr. will not report to training camp on time. The starter will not risk injury at training camp and will stay away for the time being. He has not yet signed his franchise tag, so he won’t be fined for missing practices at camp. How long will his holdout last? That remains to be seen.

Quotable:
“I don’t know whether he is going to be here or not. If he’s here, great. If he’s not, we move on. That’s how we’ve done it in the past. This isn’t the first time I have been through something like this, so my thing is, we just go. Whoever the next guy is, is going to step in there. We know Joe Thuney can do it in a heartbeat so if we need to go that direction, we can go that direction. We’ve got some new faces in there that can also do it.” - Chiefs HC Andy Reid on LT Orlando Brown Jr.
“I mean first off it was a sweet catch, so I had to make sure that I posted that. No, I mean it’s good to see young guys especially coming out and getting extra work in. He came in with a little bit of a hamstring thing, whatever at the beginning of camp (minicamp) so he didn’t get all those reps that we obviously wanted him to, so to get him down in Texas, get some extra reps in coming into this rookie minicamp where I’m sure we’ll get more and more reps there I think it will help jump start him to kind of help contribute as fast as possible because at the end of the day I mean he’s a rookie coming in having to learn a ton but he’s got a lot of talent and we want to make sure whenever the season comes around he’s ready to go.” - Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes on training with rookie WR Skyy Moore
